If it tells you how to use it, then you have it. Without that, neither the network jack nor wireless antenna worked, but reinstalling with that connection grabbed all the components I needed for my network access.
No wireless card installed. Ethernet works out of the box Ethernet controller: I know this because I went down the ndiswrapper route first and then backed out of it.
There’s also a neat gui available in apt called gpointing-device-settings.

Okay, just to add some further information. On some newer models, turn off VGA scaling in Bios to get installer framebuffer to work. I tried to install many Linux Distros, but everyone of them had the same problem. So I installed the default qireless on it speaking of newly installing the OS. The laptop stays pretty busy, but hasn’t hiccoughed yet.
